Permanent Committee Working Group 3 - Second Circular

ASIA AND THE PACIFIC REGIONAL GEODETIC PROJECT (APRGP)

Working Group 3 - Regional Geodetic Networks Working Group

Dear Colleague

The report of the third meeting of the Permanent Committee on GIS Infrastructure for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok summarised the progress with the APRGP as at 1 February 1997.

AUSLIG is coordinating the APRGP observation campaign at permanently operating space geodetic sites in the region.

A Project Summary/Plan for the October 1997 geodetic campaign (APRGP97) is attached, outlining a schedule for the GPS, SLR, DORIS, PRARE and VLBI observation campaigns. Please refer to the Project Summary & Plan and Observation Campaign Specification at pages 2 and 3 of the attachment. Also included is a list of sites by geodetic technique.

If you receive this second circular by email, the attachment will be in the form of a Microsoft Word for Windows version 7 document file. If you are unable to read this file, please advise me of your preferred format and I will resend the attachment.

It is recommended that the GPS observation campaign follow the guidelines of the IGS GPS Site Standards.

At the completion of the GPS campaign, participants are requested to send the GPS data to AUSLIG in RINEX version 2 format, with a single file of RINEX data for each UTC day of observation.

AUSLIG will collate all the data (except VLBI) from the October campaign and to assist with this process, requests you to advise AUSLIG of the permanently operating GPS sites within your jurisdiction that will contribute data.

To facilitate coordination of the APRGP97, please nominate the officer in your agency to whom future correspondence on the APRGP97 should be sent.
