ASIA AND THE PACIFIC REGIONAL GEODETIC PROJECT (APRGP)

We thank the National Agencies for participating in the APRGP97 observation campaign.
The GPS data set has been compiled by AUSLIG. A diagram is attached showing the distribution in the Asia and the Pacific region of IGS and National Agency's sites which observed GPS data during the GPS observation campaign. [There are also diagrams showing the network distribution of DORIS, SLR and VLBI]
SLR data from the participating Asia and Pacific sites has been submitted to CDDIS by the SLR observatories.
The VLBI observation campaign was coordinated by the Shanghai Observatory. Participating sites were Hobart, Australia; Shanghai and Urumqi, China; Kashima, Japan; and Fairbanks and Kokee, USA. The data has been sent to the United States Naval Observatory (USNO) for correlation, and the data analysis will be done at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Centre (GSFC) USA. Preliminary results are expected in March and final results mid 1998.
Arrangements to obtain and use the PRARE data will be finalised in early 1998.
The DORIS data has been obtained by AUSLIG for inclusion in the APRGP97 data set.
Participating National Agencies intending to process the APRGP97 data set (GPS, SLR, DORIS and PRARE) are asked to contact the APRGP97 Coordinators at AUSLIG to arrange a copy of the data. The data can be supplied either on CD-ROM or via FTP. Distribution can commence from 7 January 1998.
