First Notice: PCGIAP WG1 - Regional Geodetic Network Workshop 1999

Venue: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 12th & 13th July 1999

The Permanent Committee for GIS Infrastructure for Asia and the Pacific (PCGIAP), endorsed a proposal for a Working Group 1 Regional Geodetic Workshop in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on 12th & 13th July 1999. This workshop will present and assess the results of the 1998 Asia Pacific Regional Geodetic Project (APRGP98). Members of the Working Group are invited to attend the workshop and to present results from their analysis of the 1998 data set for discussion, leading to the finalisation of a set of results for adoption and publication.

This will be a very important, technical level, meeting of Working Group 1 - Regional Geodetic Network. It will conclude the APRGP98 project, and the GPS data set can then be made available to other regional scientific researchers.

This workshop will also develop plans for the implementation of an expanded observational campaign for national datum and sea level connections. This new project APRGP99 endorsed by the PCGIAP, will utilise data from existing permanent GPS, SLR, DORIS and VLBI sites, and in addition it aims at densification by GPS occupation of key geodetic network and tide gauge sites in individual countries. This geodetic campaign will provide the basis for the on-going development of transformation parameters for conversion of existing spatial data into a common regional spatial data infrastructure and provide preliminary velocities for multi occupied sites.

Attendees are invited to present papers on results produced from the APRGP98 project and to participate in discussion sessions in the workshop program.
